Continuous action is being taken against platforms with obscene content
According to the report of the Parliament’s Standing Committee on Communication and Information Technology, 15 OTT platforms are being monitored. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has told the panel that initially the government had banned 25 OTT platforms. After that 18 more platforms were banned and now 10-15 more platforms are under investigation and blocking orders are being issued continuously. In February itself, the government had blocked 5 platforms including MoodXVIP, Koyal Playpro, Digi Movieplex, Feel and Jugnu. They were streaming obscene content.

Let us tell you that for some time now the government has been continuously taking action against the platforms showing illegal content. Last year, in similar cases, 25 apps were banned, which included many popular services like ULLU.
The number of OTT users is increasing rapidly in the country.
Digital streaming has been growing rapidly in India for the last few years. According to reports, more than 60 crore people in India use OTT platforms. Of these, about 15 crore are paid subscribers. Due to increase in digital streaming, the number of people watching TV has reduced. Now only 25 percent people depend on traditional TV for entertainment.
