Trump had called Khamenei the most violent ruler in history
These statements of Trump have come amid increasing tension after the assassination of Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US and Israeli attacks. For Iran, this is one of the most important events after the 1979 revolution. Iran has since retaliated with attacks targeting countries in the Middle East where US troops and bases are deployed. Earlier, Trump had said that the purpose of the attack against Iran was to confront the regime, which he described as ‘one of the most violent regimes in history’. He also said that America is taking action ‘not only for itself but for the world’. He was monitoring the attack from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Palm Beach, Florida.
