The police have arrested a total of seven people, including a famous astrologer Kamalakar Guruji, in a sensational murder case that took place in Siddapura town of Uttara Kannada district of Karnataka. A woman Suchitra and her father Loknath are also among the arrested accused.
According to the police, this incident took place on Monday (February 2, 2026), in which a person named Vasant Nayak was stabbed to death. Vasant Nayak was the elder brother of Mahesh Nayak. Mahesh was married to Suchitra a few years ago and they both have a daughter.
It is being told that there was a dispute between Mahesh and Suchitra some time ago, after which Suchitra left Mahesh and started living with astrologer Kamlakar Guruji in Shivamogga. Mahesh’s family alleges that Suchitra and Kamlakar Guruji had illicit relations. For this reason both separated.
During counselling, the girl remained adamant on living with her father.
Mahesh and Suchitra’s daughter was also living with her mother, but the girl expressed her desire to live with her father, accusing her mother and the astrologer of harassment. This matter also reached the police, after which counseling of the girl was done as per rules in Shivamogga. Even during counselling, the girl remained adamant on living with her father. After this, on Sunday (February 1, 2026), Mahesh brought his daughter to his brother Vasant Nayak’s house in Siddapur.
When I went to pick up the girl, a scuffle broke out
According to the police, on Monday (February 2, 2026), Suchitra, Kamlakar Guruji, Suchitra’s father Loknath and four other people along with them reached Vasant Nayak’s house and started arguing over sending the girl back. Vasant Nayak, Mahesh and their friend Kumar opposed this. Within no time the dispute turned into a scuffle. Meanwhile, one of the people accompanying Kamlakar Guruji took out a knife and tried to attack Mahesh, but the knife hit Vasant Nayak. Seriously injured Vasant was taken to the hospital, where he died during treatment.
Police reached the spot as soon as information about the murder was received.
There was a policeman’s house right next to Vasant Nayak’s house. As soon as the information was received, the police immediately reached the spot and arrested a total of seven people including Mahesh’s wife Suchitra, his father Loknath, astrologer Kamlakar Guruji. Police have said that further investigation will continue in the matter.
