WiFi 7 was officially launched in 2024. Till now WiFi 7 routers have not reached everyone and even before that many companies have started working on WiFi 8. At CES 2026, many companies including Asus have presented the concept of WiFi 8 router. Although, it has not received approval yet, but the teaser has increased people’s curiosity. In such a situation, today we will know what is WiFi 8 and how it is going to be different from 7.
How is WiFi 8 different from WiFi 7?
In terms of speed, WiFi 8 will not be different from its current version i.e. WiFi 7. Both will get the same speed, but WiFi 8 will get better power efficiency and stronger connectivity. The demo has shown that WiFi 8 will provide a fast and stable connection to the user, even if his device is away from the router. There will be less risk of signal drop in WiFi 8, so that the user will be able to do streaming, gaming and other work without any interruption. WiFi 7 offers low latency and multi-link operation with speeds of up to 46Gbps. Looking at this, it is believed that these features will become better in WiFi 8. It is believed that WiFi 8 may be officially rolled out by 2028.
These companies are working on WiFi 8
Asus has introduced the concept of Wi-Fi 8 router at CES. The company says that it will give the same speed as 7, but its throughput will be higher, which will reduce network congestion and there will be no problem of lagging even in heavy tasks. Apart from this, Broadcom has also introduced components related to WiFi 8. These will be useful in residential Wi-Fi 8 routers. Along with these, MediaTek has also introduced WiFi 8 chips named Filogic 8000. The first device with these chips may be launched this year.
