Bengaluru: Bengaluru has been chosen as the best city in India for women in terms of women’s safety and golden career opportunities. This study has been released in a recent report by workplace inclusion firm Avtar Group.
125 cities of the country have been included in the fourth edition of ‘Top Cities for Women in India (TCWI)’. In this study, questions related to women’s safety, career growth, education, health and socio-cultural environment are asked and cities are ranked on the basis of these parameters.
How are cities evaluated?
This report has been prepared as a longitudinal inclusion index, which assesses how safe and full of opportunities a city is for women. Through this index, improvements over time in women’s participation, security and professional growth are measured, in which Bengaluru is continuously successful in improving all these parameters.
Bengaluru again becomes number-1 city for women
According to the recent ‘Top Cities for Women in India (TCWI)’ report, Bengaluru has secured the first position with a City Inclusion Score (CIS) of 53.29. It provides a safe environment for women as well as excellent career opportunities and an inclusive workplace.
The top-5 cities are as follows:
Bengaluru – 53.29
Chennai – 49.86
Pune – 46.27
Hyderabad – 46.04
Mumbai – 44.49
This ranking proves the strong position of South and West India in creating a women-friendly urban environment.
How women’s career gets strengthened
The Social Inclusion Score (SIS) assesses aspects such as safety, health, education, mobility and living conditions. Whereas the Industrial Inclusion Score (IIS) measures government-private jobs, skilling, participation in the workforce and facilities provided by companies to women.
According to the study, cities that perform well on both social and industrial levels are most conducive to women’s career development. Chennai remained on top in social inclusion, whereas if we talk about Bengaluru, it remained ahead in industrial inclusion. Pune and Hyderabad performed balanced in both the indicators.
According to the report, the top 10 cities that provide the most flexible and empowering environment for women are Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Gurugram, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Coimbatore.
