‘India’s energy policy will not change under any pressure’, India’s blunt reply to Donald Trump’s 500% tariff bill

Indian Foreign Ministry gave information on America’s proposed 500 percent tariff bill. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that we are aware of this bill. US President Donald Trump approved a bill to impose 500 percent tariff on countries importing things like oil or uranium from Russia. India, China and Brazil are major importers of Russian oil and uranium. If this bill is passed then 500 percent tariff can be imposed on these countries.

Regarding this, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, ‘Our stand on the big question of energy sourcing is well known. We are guided by the changing dynamics of the global market and the need to access affordable energy from diverse sources to meet the energy security needs of our 1.4 billion Indian people.

The Ministry of External Affairs said, ‘India’s energy policy will not change under any pressure. Our focus is on providing affordable energy to the people of India. India is keeping an eye on the markets around the world to meet its energy needs.

‘MEA’s statement on attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh’

On the atrocities on minority Hindus in Bangladesh, the Ministry of External Affairs said, ‘We are seeing that there are repeated attacks on minorities as well as their homes and businesses by extremists. Such communal matters should be dealt with swiftly and sternly. We have seen a disturbing tendency to link such incidents to personal rivalries, political differences or external factors. Such neglect emboldens criminals and deepens the feeling of fear and insecurity among minorities.

India’s statement on Taiwan-China

On Chinese military exercises near Taiwan’s border, the External Affairs Ministry said, ‘India is closely monitoring the developments in the Indo-Pacific region. Given our important trade, economic, people-to-people ties and maritime interests, we have a keen interest in peace and stability in the region. We urge all parties concerned to exercise restraint, avoid unilateral action and resolve all issues through peaceful means without threat or use of force.
