India Weather Update: ‘Fog will increase, visibility will decrease, cold will be severe’, how will be the weather in the country including UP, Delhi, Bihar for 2 days

From the hilly areas of the country to the plain states, the severity of cold is continuously increasing. Dense fog in the morning and night is increasing the problems of people in many parts including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department has issued an alert regarding fog, cold wave and very low visibility for many areas of North India between 19 and 21 December.

According to the Meteorological Department, the fog situation may become more severe in the coming days. There is a possibility of very low visibility in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana in the morning, due to which road and rail traffic may be affected. Dense to very dense fog is also expected in Punjab, Bihar and Uttarakhand on 19 and 20 December. Visibility may go below 100 meters in some areas, due to which passengers have been advised to take special caution.

Rain and snowfall in the mountains due to western disturbance

According to meteorologists, the weather is going to change in Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand due to the effect of western disturbance. There is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in these areas between 20 and 22 December. On December 21, there may be heavy snowfall in some high altitude areas, due to which the cold will increase further and there will be a possibility of frost.

Danger of cold wave in plains

There is a possibility of cold wave in some parts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand in the next two days. The minimum temperature in the plains remains below normal. In recent days, the minimum temperature recorded in Indore was 4.5 degrees Celsius, which clearly shows the severity of this weather.

Double problem of fog and smog in Delhi-NCR

The effect of fog is likely to persist in Delhi and surrounding areas between December 18 and 21. Visibility at Safdarjung and Palam airports has reduced to 100 meters at times. A slight increase in temperature is possible, but dense fog in the morning and night may affect flights and traffic.

Deteriorated air quality due to smog

Along with cold and fog, air pollution in Delhi has also become a matter of concern. On Thursday (18 December 2025), the air quality index was recorded beyond 400 in many areas of the capital, due to which the air quality reached the very poor category. Due to this, people with respiratory problems have been advised to be especially cautious.

Effect of cold in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand

People’s daily routine is being affected due to cold in Uttar Pradesh. The weather may remain clear on December 19, but there is a possibility of dense to very dense fog in many districts. Cold day conditions may also occur in some parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The cold is more severe in Uttarakhand. Life is being affected due to frost in the hilly areas, while in the plains the problems have increased due to freezing cold and fog. Its effect is also being seen on crops and road traffic.
