Winter session: How many bills were passed in Lok Sabha, what was the productivity, know everything

The proceedings of the Lok Sabha were adjourned indefinitely on Friday. In this session, the work productivity of the House was 111 percent and eight government bills were passed. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that 15 meetings were held in this session. In his brief mention, he said, ‘With the cooperation of all of you, the work productivity of the House in this session was approximately 111 percent.’ During this time, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were present in the House.

In the sixth session of the eighteenth Lok Sabha, the House approved eight government bills. These include the ‘Developed India-Ji Ram Ji Bill, 2025’ brought to replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), against which the opposition lodged a strong protest.

The House also passed the ‘Sustainable Exploitation and Augmentation of Nuclear Energy for India’s Transformation (Peace) Bill, 2025’, ‘Sabka Bima Sabki Raksha (Amendment of Insurance Laws) Bill, 2025’ and the Supplementary Demands for Grants for the year 2025-26 – First Batch and related Appropriations (No. 4) Bill, 2025. The ‘Repeal and Amendment Bill, 2025’, which proposes to repeal and amend 71 obsolete and outdated laws in the country, also received the approval of the Lower House.

The issue of electoral reforms was also discussed

Apart from these, the Lok Sabha also passed ‘Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025’, ‘Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025’ and ‘Health Protection to National Security Cess Bill, 2025’, which provides for imposition of cess on Pan Masala, by voice vote. The issue of completion of 150 years of national song Vande Mataram and electoral reforms was also discussed in the House. Earlier, the opposition had demanded a discussion in Parliament on the issue of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists and the proceedings of the House were disrupted on the first two days of the winter session due to the opposition’s protest on this issue. Ultimately, a consensus was reached to discuss the issue of electoral reforms and work began in the House.

Vande Mataram was also discussed in the House

The discussion on the completion of 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram started with the speech of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The winter session of Parliament started on December 1. In this session, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu gave a statement in the House on the issue of disruption in the operations of Indigo Airlines. Lok Sabha approved sending the ‘Developed India Education Foundation Bill, 2025’, brought with the aim of making universities and other higher educational institutions independent self-governing institutions, to the Joint Committee of Parliament. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday introduced the Securities Market Code Bill, 2025 in the Lok Sabha and proposed to send it to the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee for deliberations.
