Union Home Minister Amit Shah has claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party will win the upcoming assembly elections in Kerala. He said in Thiruvananthapuram on Sunday (January 11, 2026) that the support of BJP in Kerala is continuously increasing. He expressed confidence that the party will form the government in the upcoming state elections to be held this year.
‘The people of Kerala are supporting BJP’
The Home Minister also fiercely targeted the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala. During this, he also mentioned the increasing vote share of BJP and the victory in the recent local body elections. He said, ‘The people of Kerala are supporting BJP. Our support is increasing. In 2014, we got 11% votes, in the year 2019, it became 16% and in 2024 its percentage will reach 20. Now this vote share will reach 20% to 30% and 40%. We will prove it in 2026.
‘Now it’s Kerala’s turn..’
“We have already achieved this across the country,” he said. Now it is Kerala’s turn. BJP will definitely be elected Chief Minister of Kerala. This change in Kerala is not limited to cities only. We have won 30 gram panchayats, two municipalities, and our mayor is currently serving in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Home Minister said that this journey of victory has been possible only because of the sacrifice of hundreds of our party workers. He has given his everything. Amit Shah said that with humility, on behalf of the entire BJP, I want to dedicate this victory to the hundreds of party workers and their families who have spent their time in jail.
‘Kerala government is satisfied with the money coming from abroad’
During this, Amit Shah in his speech has criticized the LDF and UDF governments for being dependent on money from people working abroad. He also talked about the need for a balanced development model in the state.
He said that BJP and NDA have given strength to those states where they are in power. There is an appeal to Kerala to move ahead from development based on money sent from abroad to ensure development of every citizen.
He said that the development of Kerala should be balanced. The governments of both the parties in Kerala are satisfied with the money sent by the people of Kerala working abroad. We praise the people of Kerala working abroad. But I want to ask the people sitting in these governments, is it not the responsibility of the Kerala government to take care of those families? It is not the responsibility of the Kerala government to improve the lives of millions of people whose families do not send money from abroad.
‘We have developed the states we visited’
The Home Minister said that today I have come to tell the people of Kerala that the states where BJP and NDA have come to power have transformed those states into developed states. PM Modi has presented a unique development model of development to the world. Kerala should also abandon the idea of one-sided development based on remittances and plan for the development of every citizen.
