A Hindu youth was killed by a mob in Bhaluka upazila of Mymensingh district.
Tension increased in the area after the murder of Hindu youth
According to local media, the young man was accused of insulting Islam. What is even more frightening is that after the murder of the young man, his body was set on fire. Tension increased in the area after this incident. Due to this, traffic on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway was stopped for some time. The violence took place on Thursday (18 December 2025) night at the Pioneer Knit Composite Factory in the Square Masterbari area of the upazila.
Hindu youth beaten to death by mob
The Hindu youth who died has been identified as Dipu Chandra Das (30). Dipu worked in a factory and was a resident of Tarakanda Upazila of Mymensingh. Quoting local sources, Bangladeshi Bengali media outlet Barta Bazaar reported that Dipu was accused of making wrong comments about Islam and Prophet Muhammad during an event held at the factory on World Arabic Language Day. The angry mob beat him and he died on the spot.
The dead body of a young man was burnt after being tied to a tree.
According to reports, the situation became worse after the death of the youth. The mob took the body to the Square Masterbari bus stand area, tied it to a tree with a rope and set it on fire while raising slogans. This story of violence and fundamentalism did not end here. In this incident that brought shame to humanity, the mob took the body to the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway and set it on fire again, which disrupted traffic and spread fear among the local people.
Bhaluka Upazila Executive Officer Mohammad Firoz Hussain said that a person was killed for insulting the Prophet. Former Bangladesh minister and Awami League leader Mohammad Ali Arafat strongly condemned the incident and said that under the leadership of the interim government’s Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus, Bangladesh is continuously moving towards radicalization on a large scale.
