Are the stock markets open on Saturday, December 20?

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) has decided to conduct a special mock trading session across all major segments including Equity, Derivatives, Currency, Commodity and Electronic Gold Receipts on Saturday, December 20. This session is purely for testing and practice purposes. The deals happening during this period will have nothing to do with the real market, nor will there be any profit or loss.

The main objective of this session is to check the robustness of the trading system and to test the functionality of the Disaster Recovery (DR) site to deal with any emergency situation.

This session will start with login at 9:15 am and trading will continue till 4:20 pm. Trading in the first part of the session will be conducted from the Main Site (PR) with a pre-open session from 10:00 AM to 10:15 AM followed by continuous trading till 12:00 PM (for T+1 settlement). Between 12:00 pm and 12:45 pm the exchange will switch from the main site to a disaster recovery (DR) site. The second session from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm will be conducted entirely from the same DR site. This process is part of preparations to keep the market running smoothly during a major problem such as a technical glitch.
