An exciting and scary video of the increasing conflict between nature and man in Kamareddy district of Telangana is becoming increasingly viral on social media. A leopard was seen roaming fearlessly on the main road near Mangaram and Kottal forest areas of the district. This incident not only gave goosebumps to the passers-by, but has also raised question marks on the security preparedness of the forest department.
The incident took place when a car rider was passing through this forest area. Suddenly seeing a huge leopard in the middle of the road, the driver immediately applied brakes. Instead of running away, the leopard continued walking on the road for some time, which was captured by the person sitting inside the vehicle in his mobile camera. It can be clearly seen in the video that the leopard was not at all perturbed by the presence of humans and in its royal gait crossed the road and disappeared into the bushes again.
Huge panic in surrounding villages
After this video went viral, there is great panic in the villages around Mangaram, Kottal and Yelareddy mandal. Local farmers and shepherds say that now they are reluctant to go to the fields as the evening approaches. Villagers alleged that incidents of wild animals coming close to residential areas have increased in recent times, due to which the risk of attacks on cattle has increased.
Local people advised to be cautious
Forest department officials have taken cognizance of the video and advised the local people to remain alert. Officials say that this area is the natural habitat of leopard, hence the passengers have been instructed not to stop their vehicles on this route at night and keep the windows closed. The department is now planning to install camera traps to monitor the movement of the leopard.
