Murderer Manjha took away the life, slit the throat of a young man who came from UP in search of work.

The festival of Makar Sankranti, which brings happiness and joy, has turned into a lifelong mourning for a family in Uttar Pradesh. On Wednesday (January 14, 2026), banned Chinese manja (synthetic thread) took the life of Avidesh Kumar, a 35-year-old migrant laborer, in Fasalwadi village of Sangareddy district of Telangana. This tragic incident happened when Avidesh was going to the market on his bike and got hit by the deadly manjha hanging on the road.

According to the information received from the police, Avidesh Kumar was originally from Uttar Pradesh and had come to Sangareddy just a day ago in search of livelihood. On Wednesday (January 14) afternoon, he was going from Fasalwadi to Sangareddy market to buy vegetables on his motorcycle. Meanwhile, China Manjha was stranded on the road after being cut by a kite flying in the air. As soon as Avidesh passed by, that invisible and very sharp thread got entangled around his neck.

Young man died due to excessive bleeding

Due to the speed of the bike and the strength of the manja, Avideesh’s throat was deeply cut. Due to excessive bleeding he fell on the road. However, the people present there immediately informed the ambulance, but he died before reaching the hospital.

What did the police say after Avideesh’s death?

As soon as information about the incident was received, Sangareddy police reached the spot and seized the dangerous blue colored synthetic manja which was the cause of death. Police have registered the case and sent the body to Sangareddy government hospital for post-mortem.

Officials said that the Telangana government has imposed a complete ban on nylon or synthetic (China) manjha since 2016 in view of the safety of wildlife and humans. Despite this, its clandestine sale and use continues in the markets, which is now proving to be a death trap for innocent people.

Angst among local people after Avideesh’s death

It is made of synthetic material coated with glass and metal powder, unlike ordinary cotton thread. It is so strong that it does not break easily, but cuts flesh and bones when pulled. This is the third major incident of injury from Manja in the last one week in Sangareddy and surrounding areas of Hyderabad, in which a police officer and another pedestrian have also been injured.

There is huge anger among the local people after the death of Avideesh. The deceased has left behind his wife, a son and a daughter, who are now destitute. Villagers and human rights activists have demanded that merely imposing a ban is not enough, rather a case of culpable homicide should be registered against those selling and using this deadly thread.
