Terrorist Adil Ahmed Rather, arrested in the Delhi bomb blasts, has made such serial and detailed revelations to the investigating agencies during interrogation, which reveal the complete picture of a well-planned terrorist network, its funding, purchase of weapons, radical ideology and conspiracies that have been going on for years. Terrorist Adil told that he got married in October 2025. Adil has two brothers, one of whom is Dr. Muzaffar Ahmed Rather (32), who is MD Pediatrics and went to Afghanistan via Dubai in July-August 2025.
According to Adil, Muzaffar is working there to treat terrorists associated with Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). Adil completed his primary education in Jammu and Kashmir. He did MBBS (2012–2018) and MD (Medicine) (2018–2022) from Government Medical College, Srinagar. In October 2022, he joined GMC Anantnag as Senior Resident Doctor. Later he joined V Bros Hospital in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh as a consultant. He resigned in March 2025 and started working as a consultant in the Famous Medicare Hospital, Saharanpur in April 2025.
Adil was not very religious in the beginning
Adil told that initially he was not very religious and had hobbies like singing music and playing cricket, but during his stay with brother Muzaffar in the hostel of GMC Anantnag and later after coming in contact with Mufti Irfan Ahmed Wage and Dr. Omar Mohammad Nabi (who later became a suicide bomber), his inclination towards fundamentalism increased. His hobbies were considered ‘sinful’ and he restricted himself entirely to Islamic literature.
In 2021, Adil came in contact with Muzammil through his brother. During this time he was introduced to Dr. Umar and Mufti Irfan. All four together planned to engage in active terrorism. Terrorist handlers (Ansar Ghazwat ul Hind) @Hashim and @Mansoor were contacted through Telegram, however this contact was lost after a few months. After this the group itself decided to spread the ideology and carry out terrorist activities.
Plan to go to Afghanistan via Türkiye
Muzaffar planned to go to Afghanistan and tried to reach there via Türkiye. In April 2022, Muzaffar, Muzammil and Omar reached Istanbul, where they were kept near Taksim Square, where a person named Dr. Ukasha kept their passports with him, but after 10 days Ukasha told them that the plan to send them to Afghanistan was not possible due to security reasons and all three returned to India in April 2022.
Omar planned to make explosives himself
In June 2022, Umar planned to make explosives himself, for which he took the help of Google and YouTube. In 2023, Omar said that he was not able to succeed in making explosives, but he was confident that he would be able to make one one day. In 2023, a deal was made to purchase AK-47 through a person Tufail Ahmed Bhat. For which Muzammil collected a fund of about Rs 7.5 lakh and gave it to Umar, out of which the first AK-47 was purchased for about Rs 6 lakh.
Umar further claimed that he was going to buy a hand grenade with the remaining money, but later he told that the seller of the hand grenade was arrested and he did not even get the money given to him. A dispute started between Muzammil and Umar on this subject. Later the AK 47 was hidden in the locker of GMC Anantnag which was registered in the name of Adil. Later another AK-47 was obtained free of cost, which was kept at different places.
Umar had taken Rs 22 lakh from Muzammil
In September 2024, Umar came to meet Adil and told that he had made explosives with the help of documents available in the public domain based on the thesis and research of a foreign university. Umar took Rs 22 lakh from Muzammil, which was to be used in terrorist activities. In 2025, there was a serious dispute between Muzammil and Omar regarding funds and weapons. After this all the objectionable materials were kept with Muzammil. On 31 October 2025, Adil returned to Saharanpur after completing his leave. On 5 November 2025, he was arrested from his workplace and brought to Srinagar.
