25-year-old Dipu Chandra Das, a minority Hindu citizen, has been beaten to death by a fanatic mob in Mymensingh district of Bangladesh. The fundamentalist minded mob first beat Das by hanging him from a tree and then set him on fire, the video of which is going viral on social media. At the same time, Bangladeshi exiled writer Taslima Nasreen, citing another video of this incident, has claimed that the police may also have played a role in the mob lynching of Das.
Actually, a video before the death of Dipu Chandra Das surfaced, in which Dipu can be seen talking to some people. In this video, people are seen wearing blue full-sleeve sweatshirts and pants and Deepu is seen sitting barefoot and explaining something to them. The incident took place far away from Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka, where violent protesters carried out arson in protest against the killing of anti-India leader Sharif Usman Hadi. Meanwhile, exiled Bangladeshi writer Taslima Nasreen shared a series of events recounting the experiences of sexual harassment and religious repression she faced in her childhood.
What did Nasreen say on X platform?
Nasreen shared a video post on social media platform X at 4 am on Saturday (December 20, 2025). In the post, he said, “Dipu Chandra Das worked in a factory in Bhaluka, Mymensingh district. He was a poor laborer. One day, one of his Muslim colleagues wanted to punish him for something, so he announced to the crowd that Dipu had made derogatory remarks against the Prophet. As soon as he said this, the fundamentalist mob pounced on Dipu like hyenas and beat him mercilessly, tying his hands and legs. After which the police took him into custody. Took it means that at that time Deepu was under police protection.”
Dipu told everything to the police- Taslima Nasreen
He said, “Dipu told the police what had happened. He said that he was completely innocent, that he had not made any derogatory remarks about the Prophet and that it was all a conspiracy by one of his colleagues, but the police did not take any action against that colleague.” Nasreen alleged that many policemen also have passion for jihad.
Questioning the role of the police, Taslima Nasreen said that in this Jihadi frenzy, did they hand over Dipu to those fundamentalists again? Or did the Jihadi terrorists push the police and take Deepu out of the police station? They beat Deepu, hanged him and burnt him. It was a jihadi celebration.”
