A hair-raising case has come to light from Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. Here, in order to grab the insurance money, the sons killed their own father by getting him bitten by a snake. The matter is of Pothatturpet area of the district. Ganesan, 56, a resident of Nallathinirakulam Street here, who was working as a lab assistant in a government higher secondary school, died of snake bite while sleeping at home on the morning of October 22. His son had informed the Pothatturpet police about the incident, after which the police registered a case and started investigation.
This is how the suspicion happened, all the secrets were revealed
During investigation, the family claimed insurance policies worth about Rs 3 crore taken in the name of Ganesan. However, the insurance company became suspicious after finding contradictions in the statements of different family members. After this the company lodged a complaint with Northern Zone IG Asra Garg.
There were many expensive insurance policies in the name of the deceased
When the special investigation team formed on December 6 investigated the matter in depth, the entire conspiracy was exposed. Police investigation revealed that there were many expensive insurance policies in Ganesan’s name. To get the money from these policies, his sons Mohanraj and Hariharan along with their associates Balaji (28), Prashant (35), Naveen Kumar (28) and Dinakaran (28) hatched this dreadful plan. Investigation also revealed that Ganesan was bitten by a cobra snake a week before his death. At that time the neighbors immediately took him to the hospital, due to which his life was saved.
Bitten by a snake again, family members were negligent in treatment
A week later, when he was again bitten by a snake, his family deliberately delayed treatment, which led to his death. The police’s suspicions were further strengthened when investigation of call detail records revealed that the sons had arranged for the snake through friends. Under this conspiracy, the father was bitten by a snake twice, so that the insurance money could be collected after his death.
At present, the police have arrested a total of six accused including both the sons and sent them to jail. Further investigation of the case is going on.
