Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Saturday (January 17, 2026) made a direct attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding his visit to West Bengal. TMC has made many allegations against PM Modi, calling him a political tourist.
TMC posted on social media
Trinamool Congress (TMC) has shared several posts on social media platform X targeting PM Modi. In one of these posts, TMC said that PM Modi has fabricated a story about the demographic imbalance and riots in Bengal, as if the biggest riot instigator in Indian politics has any moral right to lecture Bengal on harmony.
political tourist @narendramodi Spun a fantasy about “demographic imbalance” and “riots” in Bengal, as if the biggest riot-monger in Indian politics has any moral authority to lecture Bengal on harmony.
Your entire political enterprise runs on communal poison, daily hate…
— All India Trinamool Congress (@AITCofficial) January 17, 2026
TMC said, ‘Your entire political business runs on communal poison, daily hate broadcasts and polarization and now your party is sending divisive agents to incite unrest in Murshidabad. Stop lying about Bengal to hide your terrible failures.
TMC raised many questions on PM Modi
During this, Trinamool Congress also raised many questions on PM Modi. The party wrote in the post that if illegal infiltration is really as big a crisis as you pretend, then answer this:
- Why has the Election Commission, which is completely under your control, refused to release the list of foreigners caught through SIR?
- Why has Home Minister Amit Shah, who has BSF, CRPF, CISF, IB and every power of the state, completely failed to secure the border?
- And why are such huge security lapses happening in other places? How did terrorists massacre civilians in a heavily militarized area like Pahalgam?
- Why were 15 people killed in the country’s capital in a blast linked to a terrorist module operating under Double Engine Haryana?
