According to the official notification issued by Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE), there will be a one-day holiday in the market next week on Christmas.
This holiday has been scheduled for Thursday, December 25, 2025, on which day there will be no trading activity on Dalal Street. This pause in the market has come at a time when investors are often very active with their positions at the end of the year.
Trading will remain completely closed in all major segments like Equity, Equity Derivatives and Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB) during this Christmas holiday. The exchanges have clarified that after regular business till Wednesday, December 24, there will be a holiday on Thursday and the market will reopen at its scheduled time immediately thereafter on Friday, December 26.

The entire month of December has been very busy for the market and Christmas is the only official holiday of this month, which falls in the middle of the week. Apart from this, regular weekly holidays of Saturday and Sunday will remain in force.

If we look at the trading calendar for the entire next week (December 22 to December 26), the market will be open at full capacity on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Hindalco shares today closed at Rs 853.75 with a fall of Rs 2.95.
Kotak Bank shares today closed at Rs 2,159.60 with a fall of about Rs 5.
JSW Steel shares today closed at Rs 1,080 with a fall of Rs 2.20.
– ICICI Bank shares today closed at Rs 1,354.30 with a fall of Rs 2.50.
