Goa News: The brutal murder of two Russian women in Goa has shaken the entire state. The more this matter progresses, the more it is taking a new turn. The police have detained a Russian citizen Alexey Leonov in this case, who has made shocking revelations during interrogation. The first case came to light in Bamanbhati-Harmal of Pedane taluka, where a 35-year-old Russian woman, Alina, was murdered by slitting her throat. A few hours later, the body of another woman was found in the bathroom of a house in Morji village. The deceased was identified as 37-year-old Alina Vaniva. She was found naked and her throat had been slit.
Russian killer arrested: money and suspicion cited as reason
Mandre police intensified the investigation and succeeded in arresting the suspect Alexey Leonov. During interrogation he confessed to both the murders. Police investigation also revealed that Alexey used to specifically target women coming from Russia.
According to police sources, Alexey used to befriend Russian women earlier. Then he used to get closer to her by pretending to fall in love. During these relationships he used to extort money from them. When women came in contact with someone else or their relationship broke, Alexei, blinded by anger and suspicion, would kill them. Such information has come to light during police interrogation, which has made the matter very serious.
Shocking claim of murder of 15 women
After being detained, Alexey made an even bigger claim before the police. He said, “I have given ‘moksha’ to 15 women so far in Goa and Himachal Pradesh.” Due to his statement, not only Goa but also the police of other states have become alert. However, during interrogation, he is repeatedly changing his statements, due to which the investigation is becoming more complicated.
Mandre Police Inspector Girindra Naik said that till now only bodies of two women have been found from the spot. Alexey’s claim cannot be ignored. Police are working on every possibility. In order to ensure that no clues are left about any other incident related to Alexey, the police started a large-scale search operation in the coastal area. Checked the locations of Russian citizens. Searched for Alexey’s lodgings. Drones and patrolling increased in many maritime areas of Goa.
Why did he choose Russian women?
Investigation revealed that Alexey himself is a resident of Russia. She had knowledge of Russian language, culture and behavior, which made it easier for her to socialize with women coming from Russia. Taking advantage of this, he would assure them of love, enter their personal lives, take their money and then, in case of suspicion or dispute, kill them. This is considered to be a very vicious and dangerous pattern of crime.
