Here tap on the 3-dot menu and go to Status Privacy. Here you can go to My contacts except… and select the contacts from whom you want to hide the status. Apart from this, if you want to show your status to only a few people, then go to the status privacy menu and select your contacts in Only share with…. With this, the status will be visible only to your selected contacts.
Stop Read Receipts like this
If you do not want the other contact to know that you have read the messages sent by them, then you can turn off Read Receipts. For this, go to Settings, open Privacy and turn off Read receipts visible here.
