A heart-wrenching incident has come to light from Inam Veerapura village in Hubli rural area of Karnataka, where a father, angry over an inter-caste love marriage, attacked his pregnant daughter with an iron rod and killed her. The police reached the spot and took immediate action and arrested 3 accused including the father of the deceased.
According to the police, this incident happened between 6 and 6:30 pm on Sunday evening. It is alleged that Manya Patil’s father attacked his daughter with an iron pipe. When Renukamma and Subhash, members of the in-laws’ side, came forward to save Manya, they too were brutally attacked by that person, due to which they were seriously injured.
Manya and Vivekananda had a love marriage last year.
After this, Manya was taken to the hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared her dead at around 9:30 pm. Police investigation has revealed that Manya and Vivekananda had a love marriage last year. Manya’s family was very angry with this inter-caste marriage. Even after marriage, Manya’s father tried to attack the couple, due to which both of them were living in Haveri district for a few months due to security reasons.
The couple returned to Inam Veerapura on 8 December 2025 after the local administration brokered a compromise between the two families. This fatal attack happened just a few days later. Hubli Rural Police has detained three accused named Prakash, Veeranna and Arun in this case.
Formation of SIT for investigation
Police have confirmed that the attackers include the father of the deceased and his close relatives. Considering the seriousness of the case, the police have formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) so that other people involved in the conspiracy can be identified and action can be taken against them.
