All the political parties of the country have shared the details of donations received in one year, in which a big change was seen in the donation trend of the largest political parties Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress. While BJP has received 68 percent more donations than last year, Congress’s donations have declined by 43 percent. This data is from 2024 to 2025. During this period, Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections were held in many states.
A big decline has also been seen in the donations of parties like Trinamool Congress, Bharat Rashtra Samithi, Telugu Desam Party and Biju Janata Dal. In this one year, the donations to these parties have reduced to less than one-third. According to the information available on the Election Commission website, BJP has received donations of Rs 6,654 crore between April 1, 2024 and March 30, 2025. This figure is 68 percent more than last year. Of these, 40 percent donations came through the Electoral Trust. Donation of Rs 2,180 crore was given to BJP from Prudent Electoral Trust, Rs 757 crore from Progressive Electoral Trust and Rs 150 crore from New Democratic Electoral Trust. Donation of Rs 3,112.5 crore was given through other electoral trusts.
According to the Election Commission, the remaining donations have been received from some companies and people. Among corporate donors, the biggest donation has been made by Serum Institute of India, the company donated Rs 100 crore. 95 crores was donated by Rungta Sons Private Limited, 67 crores by Vedanta and 65 crores by Macrotech Developers (Lodha Developers). Three different companies of Bajaj Groups together have donated Rs 65 crore, while Derive Investment has donated Rs 50 crore.
BJP has received donations of Rs 10 crore from Malabar Gold, Rs 15.1 crore from Kalyan Jewellers, Rs 23.65 crore from The Hero Group, Rs 29 crore from Dilip Buildcon Group, Rs 35 crore from ITC Limited, Rs 5.25 crore from Wave Industries and Rs 1.5 crore from Zerodha Investment Company.
Leaders also donated to BJP
Some BJP leaders also donated to the party, which includes Assam CM Himmat Biswa Sarma’s donation of three lakhs, Assam government minister Pijush Hazarika’s donation of Rs 2.75 lakh, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s donation of Rs 1 lakh, Odisha CM Mohan Charan Manjhi’s donation of Rs 5 lakh, Indore Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava’s donation of Rs 1 lakh and Akash Vijayvargiya, son of BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, donated Rs 1 lakh. The donations received in this one year are the highest in the last years.
43 percent decline in Congress donations
Talking about Congress, the party received donations of Rs 522.13 crore between 2024 and 2025, whereas in the previous year it had received donations of Rs 1,129 crore. At third place, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress received donations of Rs 184.08 crore, which was earlier Rs 618.0 crore.
There was a huge decline in the donations of these parties
KCR’s Bharat Rashtra Samiti party received only Rs 15.09 crore donations, whereas earlier it had received Rs 580 crore. There has been a slight increase in the donations of Aam Aadmi Party. In 2024-25, it received Rs 39.2 crore donations, whereas earlier the party had received only Rs 22.1 crore donations. Telugu Desam Party’s donation came down from Rs 274 crore to Rs 85.2 crore, while Biju Janata Dal’s donation came down from Rs 246 crore to only Rs 60 crore.
