An incident came to light in the early hours of Thursday (18 December 2025) in Mysuru city of Karnataka, which shocked the entire area. There was a stir after the body of a 10-year-old girl was found in Dodda Kere Maidan area near Mysuru Palace. In the initial investigation, the police suspect that the girl was first sexually abused and then brutally murdered.
The deceased girl belonged to the Hakki-Pikki community. His family had come here from Kalaburagi district in search of employment during the Mysuru Dussehra festival. About 50 people of the family were earning their living by selling balloons and toys. These people were living in temporary tents in areas like Mysuru Palace, Chamundi Hill, Exhibition Ground, Bannimantap and Devaraja Market.
Girl suddenly disappeared at night, dead body found in the morning
At around 12 o’clock on Wednesday night, all the families returned to their tents after finishing their work. When the family woke up around 4 am due to rain, the girl was not found at her place. Even after a long search, when no clue was found, the family lodged a missing complaint at Nazarbad police station. A few hours later, at around 6:30 in the morning, during a search, the girl’s half-naked body was found in a pit, very close to their temporary hideout.
Family members allege first brutality and then murder
After the dead body of the girl was found, the family members started crying badly. The family made serious allegations saying that the girl was raped and then she was murdered and the body was thrown away. As soon as the news of the incident spread, an atmosphere of tension and anger was created in the area.
Police action, accused arrested
Mysuru Police, acting swiftly in the case, has detained a youth named Karthik, resident of Kollegal. According to the police, during the arrest the accused tried to run away, after which the police were forced to shoot at his leg. The injured accused has been kept in custody after treatment.
Awaiting post mortem report, investigation ongoing
The girl’s body has been sent for post-mortem. Police officials say that sexual abuse can be officially confirmed only after the medical report comes. At present the accused is being interrogated thoroughly and every aspect of the case is being investigated.
