Prayagraj sub-zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a charge sheet under the Money Laundering Act against five accused, including former Bhadohi MLA Vijay Mishra and his wife, former MLC Ram Lali Mishra. This charge sheet was filed on July 31, 2025, of which the Special Judge of CBI Court-1, Lucknow took cognizance on December 18, 2025.
ED’s investigation was started on the basis of FIR of Uttar Pradesh Police. The police had filed charge sheets in corruption-related cases on July 14 and 26, 2023. It is alleged that while holding government posts, the accused created assets worth Rs 36.07 crore, which was much more than their income. This property has been described as both movable and immovable.
What was revealed in ED investigation
Investigation also revealed that many serious criminal cases are registered against Vijay Mishra and his family in different districts of Uttar Pradesh. These include charges like extortion, illegal mining, kidnapping, murder, robbery, fraud, forgery and organized crime. ED says that these criminal activities were going on for a long time.
ED’s investigation revealed that a real estate company was formed by misusing the government position, through which an attempt was made to divert the illegal earnings and make it appear white. This money was invested in different ways and many properties were purchased in the names of others. It is alleged that the son and a close associate also played a role in this.
ED seized property worth Rs 25.46 crore
According to the investigating agency, some part of the illegal earnings was transferred by showing loans, so that the money appeared clean. In this case, ED has so far seized movable and immovable property worth Rs 25.46 crore. The seized properties have been reported in Prayagraj in UP, Delhi, Mumbai and Rewa in Madhya Pradesh. ED has made it clear that the investigation in this case is still going on and more revelations may be made in the coming days.
