Before the Kerala Assembly elections, the stir within the Congress has once again intensified. Congress MP Shashi Tharoor will not attend the important meeting called by the party high command. According to sources, Tharoor is angry with the incidents that happened during the recent ‘Mahapanchayat’ in Kochi and he has seen it as an insult to him.
Dissatisfaction regarding arrangements in Mahapanchayat
According to sources, Shashi Tharoor had objections to the seating arrangement in the Mahapanchayat program. He believes that this arrangement was not according to protocol. It is being told that he was instructed to reach the venue 15 minutes early and finish his speech early, due to which he was feeling uncomfortable.
Dissatisfaction increased regarding the order of speech
Tharoor was told that only Rahul Gandhi would address after him. But this did not happen later. After Rahul Gandhi, six other leaders also gave speeches, some of whom are considered junior to Shashi Tharoor within the party. His anger regarding this increased further.
Dissatisfaction with Rahul Gandhi’s speech also
Sources say that Rahul Gandhi did not take the name of Shashi Tharoor in his speech. Tharoor sees this as him being ignored within the party, due to which his dissatisfaction has deepened.
Differences have come to light earlier also
It is noteworthy that differences have already surfaced between Shashi Tharoor and the leadership of Kerala unit of Congress. These differences were resolved during the recent leadership meeting held in Wayanad. At that time, it was said by party leaders and Tharoor that there is no dispute in Congress and they will work together.
Will remain active in political activities
Amidst the political turmoil, Shashi Tharoor will participate in the Kerala Literature Festival organized in Kozhikode on Friday. It is believed that his distance from the high command meeting and signs of displeasure regarding the Mahapanchayat have again brought the internal politics of Kerala Congress into discussion.
Silence of Congress leadership
At present, no official statement has come from the Congress leadership on this entire matter. However, before the elections, such internal strife is being considered an important challenge for the party.
