Bharatiya Janata Party has surprised everyone by making Bihar government cabinet minister Nitin Nabin the national working president. However, this is not the first time that BJP has surprised with its decision. Even before this, many times BJP had put forward such names, sometimes for Chief Minister and sometimes for State President, which even the top level leaders of the party were shocked to see.
In the Nitish government of Bihar, PWD Minister Nitin Nabin comes from Kayastha community. This time he has become MLA for the fifth time from Bankipur seat. He contested the by-election in 2006 and won. He started his political journey after his father’s death. After this, after 2010, 2015 and 2020, now the flag of victory has been hoisted in 2025 also. For the first time, he got a chance to become the Road Construction Minister in the cabinet expansion of Nitish government on 9 February 2021. At present his age is about 45 years. For the first time, BJP has given the responsibility of the post of President to a leader at such a young age.
First time MLA Khattar made CM in Haryana
In the 2014 Haryana Assembly elections, BJP achieved majority by winning 47 out of 90 seats. Here the names of leaders like then Union Minister Krishna Pal Gujjar, Ram Bilas Sharma and Captain Abhimanyu were in the race for the post of Chief Minister, but BJP surprised everyone by making Manohar Lal Khattar the Chief Minister. The most surprising thing was that Khattar had become MLA for the first time by contesting assembly elections. BJP had handed over the command of the state to a non-Jat leader.
Yogi Adityanath was made CM in 2017
In Uttar Pradesh, BJP achieved majority in the 2017 elections by winning 325 seats. There were many big contenders in the race for Chief Minister, among which the names of Manoj Sinha and then UP BJP President Keshav Prasad Maurya were leading, but after much brainstorming, BJP made Yogi Adityanath the Chief Minister. Adityanath was elected Lok Sabha MP from Gorakhpur five times and ran his own Hindu organization in the name of Hindu Yuva Vahini.
When Swatantra Dev Singh was shocked by the announcement of his name
The new BJP president was to be made in Uttar Pradesh in the year 2019. Many big names were in the running for this, but BJP made Swatantra Dev Singh the state president. When he got information about this he was shocked. At that time, Swatantra Dev was a cabinet minister in the Yogi government and held the road and transport department.
Pushkar Singh Dhami’s announcement was shocking
BJP got majority in the elections held in Uttarakhand in 2017 and made Trivendra Singh Rawat the Chief Minister, but after four years, the party replaced him with Tirath Singh Rawat. He was not even an MLA, he was a Lok Sabha MP, but he resigned after a few days. After which Pushkar Singh Dhami was made the Chief Minister in July, 2021. In March 2022, Dhami became the CM of the state for the second time after the assembly elections, when he lost his seat.
Vasundhara removed in Rajasthan, Bhajanlal becomes CM
BJP contested the 2023 Rajasthan Assembly elections under the leadership of Vasundhara Raje. People were assuming that Vasundhara would become the CM, but after the victory, BJP handed over the command of the state to first-time MLA Bhajanlal Sharma. Moreover, his name was also announced through Vasundhara Raje. Bhajanlal was sitting towards the back in the legislative party meeting.
Shivraj was removed from MP
In the year 2023 itself, Madhya Pradesh Assembly elections were fought under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chauhan. People thought that Shivraj Singh Chauhan would become the CM, but after the victory, the command of the state was handed over to Mohan Yadav, who came from Ujjain. Shivraj Singh Chauhan was brought to Delhi and made a minister in the central government.
Everyone is surprised by the name of Vishnu Dev Sai in Chhattisgarh
After BJP’s victory in Chhattisgarh, no one had any idea as to which face BJP would trust, but after all the brainstorming, the tribal face of Chhattisgarh, Vishnu Dev Sai, was handed over the command of the state. Actually, big names like Raman Singh were in the race in the state, but BJP surprised with its decision.
Everyone was shocked by the name of Rekha Gupta in Delhi
This year, BJP got a historic victory in the Delhi Assembly elections. Saffron was hoisted in Delhi after about 26 years. After the victory, the names of big leaders Bijender Gupta, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and Satish Upadhyay were in the race for CM, but first-time MLA Rekha Gupta was made the Chief Minister’s chair.
