Fire brigade team faced difficulties in extinguishing the fire

The fire department received information about the fire early on Monday. Due to the warehouse being in a narrow street, the fire brigade team faced difficulties in extinguishing the fire, as water supply was not possible without long pipes, which delayed bringing the situation under control. Fires are still burning at some places, and efforts are underway to extinguish the remaining fires.

This is not the time to do politics: Bengal minister

State Energy Minister Arup Biswas reached the spot and consoled the families of the deceased. He took stock of the rescue operation and also spoke to the families of the missing people. The minister said, ‘Police and fire service officials are working together to extinguish the fire. I have been told that the fire is largely under control and firefighters have entered the building. Whether anyone is trapped inside or not will be known later. This is not the time to do politics, but to let the police and fire service officials do their work.

However, it is not clear how the fire broke out in the warehouse. Employees on night duty were trapped inside, and it was discovered that six people working as security guards at the warehouse were also trapped. Local people alleged that the warehouse was locked from outside, due to which the people inside could not come out.
