‘Both enemies of India have nuclear weapons…’, what CDS Anil Chauhan said about the war without mentioning Pakistan-China

Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has said that India should be prepared for both short-term, sharp wars and long-term wars. He was giving a lecture at IIT Bombay on Monday. During this he said that India is in danger from both the neighboring countries.

Both neighboring countries have nuclear weapons

General Chauhan said, ‘One neighboring country is a nuclear weapon state and the other is a nuclear armed state. Because of this, the level of deterrence should not be broken. He did not take the names of Pakistan and China, but the indication was clear that there were land disputes with both of them.

He said, ‘We should be prepared to fight short duration high intensity wars to stop terrorism, like Operation Sindoor. Be prepared for a long-lasting land-centric war due to land disputes, but try to avoid it.

War now on the brink of third revolution

General Chauhan said that the war is now on the cusp of the third revolution, which he calls ‘Convergence Warfare’. Technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), quantum computing, edge computing, hypersonic weapons, advanced materials and robotics will play a big role in this. He said, ‘In the coming times, multi-domain operations i.e. simultaneous operations in land, air, sea, cyber and space will become necessary. We will be left with no other option.

India achieved great success in Operation Sindoor

General Chauhan said that this war lasted only 4 days, but India got a decisive victory because all areas were used simultaneously and rapidly. Multi-domain operations require deep coordination between the Army, Navy, Air Force along with forces in cyber, space and cognitive domains (psychological warfare).

Army will have to move towards new technology

This statement of General Chauhan has come at a time when India is facing tension on the border with both China and Pakistan. Experts believe that this statement is very important in the direction of army preparation and adoption of new technology.
