Bengal: Leopard entered the village, attacked many people, chased and beaten to death by the mob

West Bengal News: A very sensational and scary incident has come to light from Alipurduar district of West Bengal. A leopard suddenly entered the village on Monday evening in Sarugaon area of ​​Gram Panchayat number 2 Dhanirampur under Falakata police station area. The presence of the leopard in broad daylight spread panic in the entire area. Within no time the leopard started attacking the villagers one after the other.

According to local sources and the forest department, about 7 to 8 villagers were seriously injured in the leopard attack. Even before people could understand anything, the leopard had attacked. The injured include both men and women. Due to the sudden attacks of the leopard, there was chaos in the village and people started running here and there.

Police and forest department reached the spot

As soon as information about the incident was received, Jateshwar Phadi police reached the spot. The police took control of the situation and made arrangements to immediately take the injured to the hospital. All the injured have been admitted to Birpara State General Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment. After this incident, an atmosphere of tension and fear was created in the entire area.

The villagers became angry due to the continuous attacks. It is alleged that the angry crowd started chasing the leopard. Meanwhile, officers and employees of Dalgaon Range of Jalpaiguri Division of Forest Department also reached the spot. When the forest department team reached the spot, they saw the leopard lying dead on the ground.

Accusation of beating with sticks

A Forest Department official, on condition of anonymity, said that a large number of people were present around the dead leopard and many people had sticks in their hands. It is feared that the leopard was beaten to death by an angry mob. However, this will be officially confirmed only after investigation.

Jalpaiguri DFO V. Vikas said that a leopard had entered Dhanirampur village and injured many people. A leopard carcass has been recovered from the area. There is an atmosphere of tension in the village after the incident. Forest department and police teams are keeping an eye on the area, so that the situation does not worsen again.
