Interim order of Delhi High Court, all possible legal help should be given to Celina Jaitley’s brother who is jailed abroad.

Delhi High Court has issued an important interim order in the case of Bollywood actress Celina Jaitley’s brother who is in custody abroad. In Delhi High Court, Justice Sachin Dutta has directed the Indian Embassy and Consulate to arrange a list of local lawyers in the concerned country who can provide legal help to the detained Indian citizen.

While hearing the case, Delhi High Court clearly said that the person in custody should be informed that legal aid is available for him at the local level and he can choose the lawyer of his choice. According to the court, this right belongs to the prisoner and he should get complete and clear information about this so that he can take the right decision.

Delhi HC said it is very important to have information about legal help

The High Court also made it clear that generally the local lawyer’s fees have to be paid by the prisoner or his family. However, it is necessary to give this information to the prisoner in advance. The court also said that if any lawyer or law firm is ready to fight the case without charging fees, i.e. on pro-bono basis, then this information should also be given to the prisoner.

Delhi High Court said important things regarding help from ISWF

At the same time, Delhi High Court also commented on the possibility of help from Indian Community Welfare Fund in this matter. The court said that no final decision regarding help from the fund should be taken at this stage. This option can be considered further if needed. The court believes that it is very important for Indian citizens detained abroad to get legal aid and information. With this, their rights are protected and they can present their views in the right manner. Further hearing in this case will be held in the third week of January.
