Plane crashes on Colombia-Venezuela border, 15 dead, plane smoke as soon as it takes off

Colombia Plane Crash: A commercial plane of Satena airline crashed on Wednesday in the Norte de Sanchez province, adjacent to the border of Colombia and Venezuela, killing all 15 people on board. The accident occurred just minutes after takeoff, when the plane was headed to Ocaña after taking off from Cúcuta.

Government and airline officials have confirmed that the crashed plane was a Beechcraft 1900D, which was carrying 13 passengers and two crew members. The dead also include a sitting MP of the country and a legislative candidate contesting in the upcoming elections.

Suddenly lost contact with air traffic control

The plane had taken off from Cúcuta city in the Norte de Santander region of Colombia and was to reach Ocaña in the afternoon. But shortly before landing, the plane suddenly lost contact with air traffic control. When there was no contact for a long time, the administration immediately started a search operation. Later, when the wreckage of the plane was found, officials said that all the people on board the plane had died. There were a total of 13 passengers and two crew members in the plane. This flight was known as Satena Flight 8895.
