A heart-wrenching incident has come to light during the campaigning for municipal elections in Peddapalli district of Telangana. The stunt done by a young worker in excitement backfired on him. During the election campaign in Sultanabad, when a youth was doing a stunt of firing cannon or firecrackers, suddenly the gun held in his hand exploded. The youth got injured in this incident, after which there was chaos on the spot.

Immediately after the incident, the people present took the injured youth to the hospital for treatment. According to information viral on local online news portals and social media, the youth’s hand has been so badly damaged that he had to be admitted in a critical condition. It is being told that the youth wanted to make the rally exciting in favor of his party’s candidate. He tried to do celebratory firing in the air to woo the crowd, but due to technical fault or carelessness, the ‘bomb’ (firecracker present in the barrel) exploded in his hand.
This entire incident shows the ignorance of security standards during the election campaign. According to information received from local sources, enthusiasm regarding Sultanabad Municipality elections is at its peak. However, such stunts often prove dangerous. In the recent past, similar incidents have come to light during processions in various parts of Telangana, where the threat to life had increased in the name of celebration.
Police engaged in investigation of the case
At present, the condition of the injured worker is said to be stable, but doctors say that a long operation may have to be done to save his hand. Police have registered the case and the surrounding CCTV footage is being scrutinized. This incident is a warning to all political parties and workers that it is never worth risking your life or that of others to win elections. Life is bigger than victory and defeat and it should not be endangered by such carelessness.
