India’s Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri on Tuesday (10 February 2026) held a meeting with China’s acting Vice Foreign Minister Ma Zhaoxu, who was on a visit to India. In this, there was discussion about peace on the border and permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). China clarified that it understands and respects India’s aspirations for permanent membership of the UNSC.
Emphasis was laid on keeping India-China relations stable
Both the countries emphasized that to maintain peace on the border, it is necessary to keep India-China relations stable. China’s Acting Deputy Foreign Minister is on a visit to India to participate in the BRICS Sherpa meeting from 8 to 10 February. In this meeting, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri mentioned about the resumption of Kailash Mansarovar Yatra and expressed hope for its expansion.
It was agreed to increase contact between people
Both countries stressed the need to finalize the Acer Service Agreement as soon as possible. Both countries agreed to continue practical steps to provide visa facilities and enhance people-to-people contacts. It was emphasized in the meeting that in view of the complex and major changes in both international and international situations, China and India should work together to properly implement the important common understanding reached between President Xi Jinping and PM Modi.
India-China relations are slowly getting back on track
Tensions between India and China have reduced in recent times after the Galwan dispute. Services between the two countries are gradually starting, which were completely stopped due to the Galwan dispute. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the two sides reviewed bilateral relations and discussed ways to take forward relations by enhancing people-to-people exchanges and addressing concerns on sensitive issues.
