Google New Feature: Misuse of private photos and videos has become a serious problem in the online world today. Deepfake technology and objectionable content shared out of revenge violate the privacy and dignity of many people. To deal with this challenge, Google has added a new feature to the search platform through which users can now start the process of removing their objectionable or doctored photos in an easier way than before.
Strictness on deepfakes
Obscene images shared without permission on the Internet spread quickly and are extremely difficult to remove completely. To mitigate this problem, Google has implemented tools and policies that help identify altered or fake media and remove it from search results. Although this step does not solve the entire problem, it is an important initiative towards removing harmful links.
Remove objectionable pictures like this
Now any user can directly request removal from search results. For this, you have to click on the three dot menu visible near the image, then select Remove result option and tap on It shows a sexual image of me. If the content is related to minors or contains sensitive personal information, then separate options are given for that also. The good thing is that multiple images can be included in a single request, which makes it easier to remove widely spread content at once.
Prevent Reappearance
It is important not only to remove the content but also to prevent it from appearing again. For this, Google has started the facility of proactive filter which users can activate. This will block similar objectionable results from searches in the future. After submitting the request, users are also provided links to organizations that provide legal and emotional support.
Keep an eye on Results about you
Through the Results about you hub in the Google app, users can see the status of all their removal requests in one place. This makes the entire process transparent and easy. Now users can also request that sensitive information like driver’s license, passport or social security number be removed from search results. This new experience has been launched in most countries and will be expanded to other regions in the coming days.
