Google Smart Trick: In today’s time, smartphone is not just a means of making calls, but everything including our banking details, UPI apps, personal documents and social media accounts remains safe in it. In such a situation, if the phone is lost or stolen, it is natural to feel nervous. The risk of misuse of personal information also increases if it falls into the wrong hands. But by taking right steps in time, you can keep your information safe.
Know Google’s inbuilt security feature
Many people still do not know that Android phones already have a special security feature called Find My Device. There is no need to download any separate tracking app for this. This is an official service of Google which helps in finding the location of your phone.
Find out the location of your phone like this
If your phone is lost then use another mobile, laptop or computer. Log in to it with the same Google account that was being used on your lost phone. After this open Find My Device in the browser. There the list of devices linked to your account will appear. As soon as you select your phone, its last known location will appear on the map within a few moments.
Not just location but many more options
This feature is not limited to just telling the status of the phone. If you want, you can ring your phone at full volume even if it is in silent mode. The device can be locked remotely if needed. Your contact number or a message can also be shown on the screen so that the recipient of the call can contact you. If the situation seems serious, there is also an option to delete the entire data remotely so that your personal information remains safe.
Keep in mind that this feature works properly only when Internet and location services are turned on in the phone. Therefore, it is wise to keep these settings active beforehand.
What if the phone is switched off?
It is often believed that if a thief switches off the phone, it becomes impossible to track him. Whereas the truth is that the last online location before the device is switched off remains saved in the system. From this it can be estimated where the phone was last active. If needed, this information can also prove helpful in filing a complaint with the police.
