Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has given a big statement while addressing a public seminar organized in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh. He said that why does the Sangh only talk about Hindu society, because every person living in this country is a Hindu. Hindu society believes that our path is right and so is yours. There are different sects and sects in this society according to their interests. Our paths may be different, but the goal is the same. Hindu society is the only one to believe in this belief.
He said that people who believe in living together were given the name Hindu. In fact, the word Hindu is not a noun, but is an adjective from the grammatical point of view, which describes a quality. Who runs everything together. It leads to salvation, this is Hinduism. Since this Hindu name has become common with India, Sanatan will awaken only with the Hindu name. Those who have forgotten that we are Hindus, we have to remind them that you are a Hindu, so that a Hindu society can be established. We have to fulfill our goal.
Sarsanghchalak spoke in a major public seminar
On behalf of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Goraksh Province, a major public seminar was organized at Baba Gambhirnath Auditorium located in Planetarium on Sunday (February 15, 2026) to commemorate the centenary year of the Sangh. In the seminar, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s Sarsanghchalak Dr. Mohan Bhagwat said that the society should run only with tolerance and coordination and not for selfishness. Indian culture is to work for the welfare of others. Only by recognizing this truth can we attain eternal happiness.
He said that our nation is a religion and soul nation. Religion is part of our conduct. This required culture. Human habits were formed from generation to generation, this is the sanskar and this is what created the culture. The nation was created on the basis of this culture. We have come to know the truth that we are one. Despite diversity, the basis that unites our nation is mother power in the form of India.
The vision of the Sangh was completely developed from the Indian way of thinking – Sangh chief
The Sangh chief said that the vision of the Sangh has developed entirely from the Indian system of thinking. Today, expectations from the Sangh have increased in the society. The world does not have any way which can give happiness and peace to the society, hence it is also looking at us with hopeful eyes. He said that India was beginning to be influenced by western thinking, which tried to destroy the Indian knowledge tradition and tried to establish its own thinking. His thinking system was incomplete. Only our thinking system based on Indian knowledge tradition can solve the doubts arising in the society. Therefore, in the centenary year of the Sangh, we decided to reach out to the society, so that we can organize the society.
If society starts doing its work, then why would there be a need for Sangh – Bhagwat
He further said that the Sangh is an autonomous, independent and self-reliant organization, which is dedicated not to itself but to the nation. If the entire society becomes healthy again and starts doing its work, then why would there be a need for a union. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh is not a reaction to any particular situation nor is it in opposition to anyone. He doesn’t even see himself in competition with anyone. It is not aspiring for influence, power or popularity, rather it is an organization that does all the work in the interest of the society.
On the basis of the Biblical sentence ‘I have come to fullfill not to destroy’, he said, ‘Sangh has Come to fullfill not to destroy’ meaning we have not come to destroy anyone.
There were four schools of thought for India’s independence – Bhagwat
Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat said that there were four streams of thought for India’s independence. The first thought is to fight again and defeat them. This stream continued till Subhash Chandra Bose, this was the stream of revolution. According to the second stream, there was no political awareness in the society, that is why we lost. Political awareness will have to be created in the society. This second stream went on. The third stream was the stream of modern knowledge and science and the stream of social reform to compete with the British. This too remained an island. In the ocean of society. Like Rammohan Roy etc. tried on this. Fourth flow: We went astray because we got separated from our origin. So let us move towards the origin again. Swami Vivekananda, Swami Dayanand etc. did it. Hedgewar ji had contact with these four streams or flows.
It is necessary for us to correct our shortcomings – Bhagwat
He said that Hedgewar ji wanted to ensure that India would definitely get independence, but it would not go away again. Therefore it is necessary for us to correct our shortcomings. The society will have to stand up for this. We have to leave aside our selfishness and organize ourselves to build a healthy society. For this, he started the work of the Sangh on the day of Vijayadashami in 1925 AD. After 14 years of establishment of the Sangh, the working method of the Sangh became clear, whose name is Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. The Sangh will run with love and values, whose idea will be eternal. Whose objective will be to reorganize the society. Nations are made or broken only by the actions of the society, hence if the society is awakened, then the work will be done well.
He said that it is the job of the Sangh to organize the entire society. After 100 years of union, we have to expand ourselves. Have to strengthen. Therefore, the theme of Panch Parivartan has been brought, which includes social harmony, sense of civic duty, environment, family enlightenment, sense of self. Through this five changes a strong and grand society has to be built.
