Surya: I think this is for India. We played the same brand of cricket what we wanted to play. Batting first was better option on this wicket. Ishan thought something out of the box. After 0/1, someone had to take responsibility and the way he took it was amazing. It’s difficult to say when you’re batting first. Because you never know if there will be dew or how the pitch will play under lights. But we felt it was 15 above par. 155 could’ve been a tight game. Salman Agha: Our spinners had an off day. Execution was missing in some parts. We believe in our spinners, they’ve done well in last six months. We lost too many wickets in the powerplay with the bat. In the first innings it was tacky, the ball was gripping as well. The execution was missing with the ball. Pitch played better in the second innings than it did in the first. In these kind of games, the emotions are always going to be high. Have to deal with it. Have played enough games like that. Have a game in two days time, have to look forward to that. Need to win that game and qualify for the Super Eights. Then it’s a new tournament again.

I think the wicket was not that easy in the beginning, but sometimes you just have to believe what you want to play, what shots are on, and you have to just focus on your strength. So I was just keeping it simple and watching the ball and playing with the field, maybe trying to make them run as much as they can, but yeah, I think it worked pretty well on my side. I think I did work a lot on my offside game and it will give me the balls where I want them to bowl if I play good shots on offside. So I was just trying to hit the gaps because it’s a big boundary and when it’s a big ground you get a bigger gap. So I was just trying to keep it simple, like I said, trying to hit the gaps, trying to at least take two runs because the wicket was not easy. I had that in mind that we need to put a total like 160-170 runs and it will be a very good total for us. (Relief for the team for the rest of the tournament after winning against Pakistan?) 100 percent. India v Pakistan is always a special game not only for us but for our country as well. So we had to win this one because it was a very important game and they had pretty good spinners in their side and we were just supposed to play the good shots and yeah, winning this against Pakistan team… it will give us a lot of confidence going ahead in the tournament and we’ll try to just keep the momentum going. (On the start Hardik-Bumrah gave) I think they bowled tremendously well. Pace bowlers… when I was batting and Shaheen was bowling, I didn’t feel like the ball was doing much for the pace bowlers. But at the same time, looking at them (India’s new ball bowlers) bowl two beautiful overs. So yeah, it was a plus point for us, especially we know how Jasprit Bumrah can bowl, whether he has new ball in his hand and whether he’s bowling in the death. Credit goes to Hardik Pandya for keeping it on the tight areas, bowling what we planned before the game and executing his plans pretty well.

According to a Cricbuzz report, approximately 2000 police personnel have been deployed for the India vs Pakistan clash. There’s also military checkpoints around and heard from a few locals how they barely remember anything like this at the venue.

India have played only once against Pakistan at this venue. It was back in 2012 during the T20 World Cup. Batting first, Pakistan were all out for just 128, with Laxmipathy Balaji taking three wickets for India. In reply. India romped home in 17 overs with 8 wickets in hand. The Indian team has just arrived at the stadium amidst a sea of fans in front of the venue. While the Indian team bus had black glasses, the Pakistan team arrived just after them, with the players and backroom staff greeting the fans.

According to ESPNcricinfo, the pitch no.4 will be in use today for the India vs Pakistan clash. That means one square boundary will be far from the other. Having said that, the bowlers will pick and choose which end to bowl from.

Although there is no rain at the moment in Colombo but its cloudy. Rain is expected before the start of the match and that could hamper the game.

India and Pakistan have come to Colombo today. The whole city has been divided into two parts with whole lot of Indian and Pakistan fans landing to witness the marquee clash. Former Sri Lankan cricketer Russell Arnold shares a glimpse of the city.

So far, three matches have been played in this tournament at the R Premadasa Stadium with teams batting first winning in all three. The wicket gets on the slower side as the match progresses on. Toss will be a key factor here in Premadasa and the team winning the toss, should bat first.

Pakistan will rely heavily on spin, and are likely to go with one pacer in Shaheen Shah Afridi. With Usman Tariq as trump card, Pakistan are likely to go with four more in Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nawaz, Saim Ayub and Shadab Khan. In fact, Pakistan went with the same combination against USA – five spinners and one pacer.

India captain Suryakumar Yadav will not shake hands with his Pakistani counter Salman Ali Agha in Colombo today, according to a report in The Indian Express. Earlier on Saturday, both captains kept mum on the handshake issue.
