What was supposed to be a day of happiness and memories for a family, turned into a very painful accident within a few moments. A maternity photoshoot was going on on Saturday afternoon at ‘The Shire Studio’, a photo studio located in Giddenahalli under Madanayakanahalli police station on the outskirts of Bengaluru. This place is very popular for maternity and pre-wedding shoots, where there is an atmosphere of joy and happiness amidst the pond, lights and decorations.
Negligence took the life of a 3 year old innocent
Swati, a resident of JP Nagar, who is eight months pregnant, had come to participate in her friend’s maternity photoshoot. His three year old son Lakshmir was also with him. After reaching the studio at around 2:30 pm, Swati and her friends got busy in the photoshoot. The child was playing nearby, but no one was keeping an eye on him.
According to the police, Swati had left the child alone for about 15 minutes. While playing, Laxmir reached near the artificial pond made in the studio, which was about four feet deep. He slipped and fell into the water and drowned.
Doctors declared the child dead
After a few minutes, when everyone came to know about the child, there was chaos. People ran and pulled the child out of the water, but by then he had become unconscious. He was immediately taken to the nearest hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Laxmir was the first son of Swati and Charan Raj. Charan Raj works in a private company and had gone abroad a week ago for work. He was supposed to return to Bengaluru on Monday, but now he will reach home to see his son for the last time.
Police registered a case of unnatural death
Madanayakanahalli police inspected the spot and registered a case of unnatural death on the complaint of Swati’s father Ramesh Babu. The body has been sent to Nelamangala Government Hospital for post-mortem. In the preliminary investigation by the police, suspicion of negligence has been raised. The child fell into the pool while playing and no one knew. Questions are being raised on the security arrangements and surveillance in the studio. It is being seen in the investigation whether it was just an unfortunate accident or there was some negligence on the part of the studio.
The photoshoot of a small child’s innocence and mother’s happiness has now become the most painful memory for a family. This incident is a warning to parents and studio owners to never take children’s safety lightly, especially in places where water or dangerous objects are present.
