Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Dharmapuri Arvind, known for his aggressive attitude in Telangana politics, is once again in the midst of controversies. On Monday afternoon (February 16, 2026), when the election process was going on for the post of Mayor in Nizamabad Municipal Corporation, MP Arvind, who had come to vote as an ex-officio member, had a heated argument with the police officers on duty.
The controversy reached its peak when the MP publicly called a police officer an ‘idiot’ and warned him not to interfere in the matter. According to eyewitnesses, this incident happened when the police was trying to ensure security and follow protocol at the election centre.
What did the BJP MP say to the policeman??
During the incident, MP Dharmapuri Arvind’s attitude appeared quite harsh. He scolded a policeman who was trying to intervene and said, ‘Stupid man… keep your mouth shut.’ I’m talking to the officer, not you. Don’t interfere in the matter. This incident, which happened in front of other officials and media personnel present at the election center, has created a stir in administrative circles.
MP’s behavior became a topic of discussion on social media
This behavior of the MP towards the police has also become a topic of discussion on social media. However, this is not the first time that Arvind has had such a confrontation with the police. Earlier, during the municipal elections held on Wednesday last week (February 11, 2026), similar allegations were made against him.
Under which sections was the case registered?
Taking the matter seriously on last week’s incident, Nizamabad Police has started strict legal action against the MP. Crime number 51/26 has been registered against him under sections 132, 223 and 296(b) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) at I Town Police Station, Nizamabad. Apart from this, a case has also been registered against him for violation of Section 226 of the Telangana Municipalities Act, 2019. Police officials say that such misbehavior with public servants on duty is a crime under law and the matter is being investigated impartially.
Dharmapuri’s political journey is full of controversies and confrontations with police.
Dharmapuri Arvind’s political journey has been full of controversies and confrontations with the police. In the last few years, many cases of derogatory remarks and obstruction in police action have come to light against him. This is the second time after the incident of Wednesday last week (February 11, 2026), that within just a week, a case of misbehavior with the police has been registered against him.
Political experts believe that such incidents make the election atmosphere tense, which hinders the democratic processes. At present, heavy police force is deployed to maintain law and order in the city and the process of mayor election is being conducted under tight security.
