He admitted that there is extra pressure during the India-Pakistan match, but said that the players do not pay attention to the discussions going on outside regarding the age-old rivalry and quietly focus on their work.

Akshar told reporters after the match

Akshar Patel said, ‘Yes, there is pressure, people around you, your family or friends talk to you about it. So yes, there is a little more pressure than a normal match. Being professional cricketers we only focus on controlling our emotions. We don’t think much about competition nor do we put extra pressure on ourselves because of it. We look at Pakistan like any other team. We don’t think about mutual rivalries. We just focus on cricket so, whenever I play (against Pakistan), I take it as a match against another opponent.

Akshar praised Ishaan Kishan fiercely

Akshar Patel praised Ishan Kishan and said, ‘Looking at the way he batted, I think it was one of the best innings, because it was not so easy to bat in the conditions here. The ball was spinning, some balls were going straight, so it was not easy. The only thing is that his form in domestic cricket, he maintained it in the series against New Zealand and then scored a half-century in the last match as well. When your confidence is high, you don’t think much about yourself or the wicket. Along with confidence, skill is also important, he did not hit all his shots at one place, but also played shots over cover and slip.
