Actually, Apple has released the first developer beta version of iOS 26.4 update, in which a feature which was previously optional has now been enabled by default. Stolen device protection will be enabled
Apple first brought the Stolen Device Protection feature in iOS 17.3 update. Even if someone knows your iPhone password, this feature saves your Apple ID, saved passwords, payment methods and other sensitive data. In addition to the password, this feature also asks for Face ID or Touch ID whenever someone does actions on your iPhone like viewing saved passwords and Apple Card, factory resetting the phone and turning off Lost Mode.
User gets enough time
If the phone is stolen, the thief will not be able to immediately change the critical security settings of the iPhone. This delays settings like changing Apple ID password, removing trusted devices, changing password and removing or adding Face ID by one hour. Even after this, he will need biometric authentication to change this setting.
What will change now?
Till now this feature was optional, but in iOS 26.4 it will be automatically enabled, due to which the settings of the iPhone will not be changed in case of theft etc. This will also increase the security of the iPhone and in case of theft etc. the user will have enough time to detect it.
