Apple Home Hub: The year 2026 is considered to be very busy for the company’s hardware portfolio. There is talk that this time the focus will be especially on the smart home segment. While the possibility of more advanced projects like home robots is being expressed in 2027, in 2026 the company can bring some products which may look familiar but will prove to be very important strategically.
HomePod mini may come in a new avatar
According to reports, a new version of HomePod mini can be seen in 2026. Major changes in the design are not expected, although new color options may be introduced. The real change can be seen in its interiors. It is believed that it will be provided with a new S-series chipset which may be inspired by Apple Watch Series 10. With this, improvement in sound quality and real-time computational audio is possible.
Upgrades can also be seen in terms of connectivity, like Bluetooth 5.3 and second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. There is little possibility of a major change in the price and this speaker may remain around $99 only.
Home hub will become the control center of smart home
Along with HomePod mini, the company is also working on a dedicated home hub. This device can become a central platform to control all the smart gadgets in the house.
With the help of this hub, users will be able to manage smart accessories, make calls, play music, view weather information, browse photos and access the family calendar.
It is being said that it will have presence sensors which will be able to detect someone’s entry into the room. Also, the inbuilt camera will be able to identify who is speaking so that every member can get personalized content and suggestions.
It is likely that it will have Face ID, inbuilt speaker and A18 chip which will support Apple Intelligence features. Instead of the full App Store, it can support selected apps of the company like Safari, Apple Music, Notes, Calendar, Photos and Apple News.
It is being told that two of its models are being prepared, one to be mounted on the wall and the other with a speaker base which may be similar to HomePod mini in design.
Security camera and smart doorbell can also be launched
To strengthen the smart home ecosystem, the company can also bring its own security cameras. These indoor cameras can be deeply integrated with the Apple Home platform and the new Home Hub. Apart from this, there is also talk of a doorbell camera with Face ID support which will be able to work with the smart lock by identifying the incoming guest. These cameras are expected to have HomeKit Secure Video support and end-to-end encryption.
Although there is no clear information yet regarding the launch timing of these products, but the expectations regarding 2026 have increased a lot. If these plans come true, then the company’s hold in the smart home segment may become stronger than before.
