Now the government is going to take strict action against those who create ruckus in flights. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has released the draft of new rules. According to the new rules, now creating ruckus on a flight or airport, misbehaving with the crew or creating ruckus while drunk can prove costly. DGCA has sought suggestions from airlines and other concerned parties regarding all these things. These will be finalized and implemented only after the suggestions.
DGCA says that planes and airports are not a place for ruckus or demonstration. Any behavior that disrupts passenger safety and flight operations will not be tolerated. The draft talks about “zero tolerance” i.e. no relaxation at all.
What actions will be taken?
According to the draft, creating ruckus on a flight or airport under the influence of alcohol or intoxication, smoking, disobeying the pilot or cabin crew, abusing or assaulting, tampering with the emergency gate, raising slogans or protesting inside the flight, these actions will be considered serious. In such cases, the passenger can be deboarded from the flight and if necessary, police action can also be taken.
DGCA has proposed in the draft to divide indisciplined behavior into four levels. From mild misbehavior to assault, deadly violence and attempting to enter the cockpit, they have been kept in different categories. On this basis it will be decided how strict action will be taken against the passenger.
No-fly list and flying ban
In serious cases, there is a proposal to ban passengers from flying for a few months to several years. The names of such passengers can be put in the “no-fly list”. So that they cannot escape the rules even by buying tickets from other airlines. There is also a proposal to ban flying for at least 30 days. However, this list will not be public but will be shared only between airlines and related agencies. DGCA has made it clear that these rules are only draft at present. These will be finalized and implemented only after receiving suggestions from all parties.
