A new lab investigation has made shocking revelations, which has increased people’s concern. It has come to light that presence of dangerous chemicals has been found in headphones of many big companies including Samsung, Bose, and Sennheiser. These dangerous chemicals found in the plastic of headphones
According to media reports, the researcher had tested over-ear and in-ear headphones purchased from online market places and retail stores. In this, plastic and other synthetic materials coming in direct contact with the skin were examined. The results revealed that bisphenols have been used in them. It is usually mixed in plastic. Bisphenol A was found in 98 percent of the samples, while bisphenol S was found in three-thirds of the samples. Both these substances are considered endocrine disruptors. That means they can interfere with the hormonal system of the body. Along with these, many other chemicals including Phthalates, Chlorinated Paraffins have been found in the sample, which pose many risks including cancer and hormonal imbalance.
Can there be any danger in using them?
Dangerous chemicals have been found in very small quantities in the samples, but experts involved in the study say that exposure to them for a long time can increase the risk. Generally, people use headphones for many hours and they remain in direct touch with the skin. Many people use headphones even while exercising. In such a situation, chemicals can migrate rapidly inside the skin. On the other hand, there has been no reaction yet from the companies whose headphones have been tested.
