Stock Market Closing Today, 26 December: The stock markets closed with losses for the second consecutive trading session today due to the fall in shares of IT and financial companies. Today the Sensex closed at the level of 85,041.45 points with a fall of 0.43% i.e. 367.25 points. Whereas Nifty closed at the level of 26,042.30 points with a fall of 0.38% i.e. 99.80 points. Today 3,249 shares were traded on NSE. Of these, 1,285 shares closed with gains. Whereas 1,871 shares closed with a decline. Apart from this, there was no difference in the rates of 93 shares.

Main reasons for market decline
Rupee decline: The rupee fell 23 paise to 89.94 against the US dollar due to foreign fund outflow and recovery in crude oil prices.
FII selling: Foreign institutional investors sold shares worth Rs 1,721.26 crore on Wednesday, the third consecutive session of net selling.
Crude oil prices increased: In the global market, crude oil prices rose slightly after the US ordered increased economic pressure on Venezuelan oil shipments and launched airstrikes against Islamic State militants in north-west Nigeria. Brent crude futures rose 0.4 percent to $62.48 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose 0.4 percent to $58.58 a barrel.
Profit Booking: Profit booking was seen across all major sectors. Shriram Finance and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries were among the top losers in the Nifty50 pack, falling up to 2 per cent intraday.
