‘Matter of great concern’: India condemns killing of Hindu youth in Bangladesh, says closely following developments

India, on Friday, condemned the killing of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh, stating that it is a “matter of great concern.” The MEA also said that it is closely watching the developments in Bangladesh following ex-PM’s son Tarique Rahman’s return ahead of the polls due in February 2026.

India said that over 2900 incidents of violence against minorities including cases of killings, arsons, land grabbing have been documented by independent sources.

“The unremitting hostility against minorities in Bangladesh is a matter of great concern. We condemn the recent killing of a Hindu youth in Bangladesh and expect that the perpetrators of the crime will be brought to justice,” said MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

The MEA’s comment comes after recent incidents involving the lynching of Hindu men in Bangladesh.

On Thursday, a 29-year-old Hindu man, Amrit Mandal, was killed in Bangladesh’s Rajbari district, police said, according to The Daily Star. This incident comes days after the barbaric killing of another Hindu youth, Dipu Chandra Das, in Mymensingh.
