‘We cannot ignore…’, India angry over lynching of Hindu youth in Bangladesh, counted crimes committed during Yunus government

The Government of India has issued a statement regarding the ongoing political crisis in Bangladesh and atrocities on minority Hindus. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said on Friday (26 December 2025) that the violence against minorities in Bangladesh is a matter of concern. He said, ‘We condemn the murder of Dipu Das. We hope that the culprits will be brought to book.

‘Bangladesh violence cannot be ignored’

The Ministry of External Affairs said, ‘During the tenure of the current interim government of Bangladesh, 2900 such incidents have come to light, which are related to murder, arson, land grabbing. These reports cannot be ignored as political violence.

General elections are going to be held in Bangladesh in February 2025. Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has become active regarding this and is busy in creating the atmosphere. In this connection, BNP’s working president and former PM Khaleda Zia’s son Tariq Rehman reached Dhaka for 17 years. Rahman, a leading contender to become Prime Minister of Bangladesh, symbolically marked his return to the country’s politics by standing barefoot on Bangladeshi soil soon after arriving at the airport.

On the return of Tariq Rahman and the elections to be held in Bangladesh, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said, ‘India should conduct free, fair and inclusive elections in Bangladesh. India is committed to establishing good relations with the citizens of Bangladesh. We hope for peace and stability there. People from all sides should participate there and the voice of the people should become louder there.

Hindu youth murdered in Bangladesh

After the assassination of Usman Hadi in Bangladesh, fundamentalist minorities started persecuting Hindus. The mob first killed Hindu youth Dipu Das and burnt his body by hanging it from a tree. After this, a young man named Amrit Mandal alias Samrat was also beaten to death by the mob in Rajbari. Regarding this, protests are taking place against the Yunus government in India as well as in other countries.
