West Indies created history, world record of highest total saved from breaking; Zimbabwe’s bumper thrashing

Due to the stormy innings of Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell, West Indies have made the second highest total in the history of T20 World Cup. In their first match of Super-8 at Wankhede, Mumbai, West Indies scored 244 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. Apart from Hetmyer and Powell, Sharfane Rutherford also batted brilliantly for West Indies. Rutherford played an unbeaten inning of 31 runs in just 13 balls.

Sri Lanka holds the record of making the biggest score in the history of T20 World Cup. Sri Lanka had scored 260 runs in 20 overs in 2007. Now West Indies team has come at second place in this record list. Although, West Indies had a chance to break Sri Lanka’s record today, but they could not do so. Ireland has now moved to third position in this record list with 235 runs.

Such was the record innings of West Indies

The start was not good for West Indies. Opener Brendan King was out after scoring only 09 runs in 12 balls. After this, Shai Hope also left after scoring only 14 runs. After this, Shimron Hetmyer and Rovman Powell hit the Zimbabwe bowlers a lot. Hetmyer scored a half-century in just 22 balls. He has also become the batsman to score the fastest half-century for West Indies in the T20 World Cup.

Shimron Hetmyer played an inning of 85 runs in just 34 balls. During this period, 7 fours and 7 sixes came from his bat. Rovman Powell scored 59 runs in 35 balls. He hit 4 fours and 4 sixes. Romario Shepherd scored 21 runs in 10 balls with 3 sixes. Jason Holder was out after scoring 13 runs in four balls with two sixes. Whereas Sharfane Rutherford played an unbeaten inning of 31 runs in 13 balls. He hit 3 fours and 2 sixes.

West Indies hit a total of 19 sixes in their innings. Also hit 16 fours. Zimbabwe will never forget such a beating. His players looked quite disappointed. Captain Sikandar Raza was the most expensive for Zimbabwe. He gave away 52 runs in just 3 overs.
