President Trump has said that he is considering a military attack on Iran. However, the next talks related to the issue are to be held between the two countries on Thursday (26 February 2026) in Geneva. According to an AFP report, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi told CBS on Sunday (23 February 2026) that any kind of obstruction regarding the nuclear program will not be tolerated. He also made it clear that Tehran will not bow down to American military pressure. Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Lebanon has evacuated dozens of employees as a precautionary measure in view of possible regional developments.

Students in Iran have started fresh protests against Islamic rule. Anti-government slogans were raised in universities with the beginning of the new session. In a video viral on social media, students at a university in Tehran were seen burning the flag adopted after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The protesters raised slogans like Down with the Islamic Republic. Earlier, the protests that reached their peak in January were suppressed by security forces through violent action. According to the American human rights organization HRANA, more than 7,000 people died in these protests, although the Iranian government confirms about 3,000 deaths and blames foreign forces for the violence.
