Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on Israel tour, addressed the Parliament (Knesset) there on Wednesday (25 February 2026). There was amazing enthusiasm among Israeli MPs. PM Modi was awarded the Speaker of the Knesset Medal. This is the highest honor of the Israeli Parliament. PM Modi lashed out at terrorism
PM Modi expressed his views on Gaza Peace Plan, terrorism, attacks in Israel on 7 October 2023, relations between the two countries. He said, ‘Like Israel, India is also firm on its policy of zero tolerance for terrorism. Killing of civilians and terrorism cannot be justified in any way.
PM Modi said, ‘Continuous and coordinated global action is needed to combat terrorism, because terrorism anywhere in the world is a threat to peace. 26/11 terrorist attack took place in India, in which an Israeli citizen also died. Neither have we forgotten the 26/11 terrorist attacks nor will we forget the 7/10 attacks. India supports every step for peace.
What did PM Modi say about Hamas attack?
Prime Minister Modi condemned the barbaric terrorist attack carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023 and said, ‘We feel your pain, we are with you in your grief. I express my deepest condolences to every person who lost his life in the terrorist attack and to every family whose life was ruined. We feel your pain, we are with you in your sorrow. India will stand firmly with Israel at this time and in the future also.
India in support of Gaza peace plan: PM Modi
PM Modi said that India supports the peace initiative in Gaza. He said, ‘The Gaza peace initiative has the support of the United Nations Security Council. We are in favor of peace. The path to peace is not always easy, but India stands with you and the world for dialogue, peace and stability in the region. We believe it holds the promise of a just and lasting peace for all the people of the region, which also includes resolving the Palestine issue.
PM Modi said, ‘It will soon become the third largest economy in the world. In the last few years, India has signed many important trade agreements with other countries. Our teams are working hard to negotiate a major free trade agreement. We are building economic corridors in the world. The world’s largest AI summit took place in India. For us the whole world is a family.
Addressing the Israeli Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘The Jewish community has been living in India without any oppression or discrimination. They have preserved their religion and have participated fully in society. You celebrate Hanukkah with the twinkling of candles. At the same time we celebrate Diwali with the lighting of lamps. Soon, India will celebrate the festival of Holi full of colors and happiness and around the same time Israelis will also celebrate Purim with enthusiasm and joy.
What did PM say on India-Israel trade deal?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that India is committed to increasing trade, strengthening investment and pursuing joint infrastructure development with Israel. He said, ‘India has signed many important trade agreements in the last few years. We have signed agreements with the European Union and UK in the west and with UAE and Oman in the east. Our bilateral merchandise trade with Israel has grown manifold over the years, but it still does not reflect the full scope of potential, so our teams are working on an ambitious Free Trade Agreement (FTA).
He said, ‘Our ambition matches Israel’s innovation system. There is huge potential for cooperation in areas like quantum technology, semiconductor and artificial intelligence. We are also working on building cross-border financial connectivity through digital public infrastructure. Hailing the agricultural success in the desert, he said that Israeli expertise in precision irrigation and water management has transformed agricultural practices in India.
